Let tyrants fear; I have always so behaved myself that, under God, I have placed my chiefest strength and safeguard in the loyal hearts and good will of my subjects. And therefore I am come amongst you at this time, not as for my recreation or sport, but being resolved, in the midst and heat of the battle, to live or die amongst you all; to lay down, for my God, and for my kingdom, and for my people, my honour and my blood, even the dust.
I know I have but the body of a weak and feeble woman; but I have the heart of a king, and of a king of England, too; and think foul scorn that Parma or Spain, or any prince of Europe, should dare to invade the borders of my realms: to which, rather than any dishonour should grow by me, I myself will take up arms; I myself will be your general, judge, and rewarder of every one of your virtues in the field.

Analysis of Article:
Pathos: A great deal of emotion is used. It stirs guilt if you are not fighting and honor and patriotism if you are currently fighting. She pays the men compliments and promises them rewards for fighting. She appeals specifically to the audience at this time when women were looked down upon as weak by saying that as a queen she has other qualities, “I know I have but the body of a weak and feeble woman; but I have the heart of a king, and of a king of England.”
Ethos: I think that the Queen is very credible and definitely speaks with authority especially for the audience of this time. The Queen has been through much and has dedicated her life to royal status, since birth, and for this reason she has qualified herself to speak to the audience.
Typical: I think the examples and things that she says are very typical of the time. Two things really stood out that would have been accepted very well; 1) the fact that she plays down the woman and 2) the focus on God and how God fights for England.
Accurate: I don’t think it was completely accurate because would the Queen really fight and get her hands dirty if England were invaded…less than likely! People would have believed it for a second but when you actually think about it, it is ridiculous and was only said to sound more dedicated.
Relevant: I don’t think that anything could have been left out of the speech and everything that was wrote was there for a reason. It was not only relevant for one person but for a nation everyone from the patriots to the sexists.
